Mount Carmel Centre For Scientific Research & Advacned Learning

  • Establishment of the Centre : 2005
  • Structure : Governed by committee – Members from different disciplines to attain interdisciplinary status. The research activities of the institution are guided by the Research Director, Dr. Radha D. Kale.
  • Perspectives :
    • Strengthen research – both of faculty and students.
    • Guide the staff and students to apply for research funds and research fellowships offered by National and International funding agencies.
  • Achievements :
    • Research projects have become a part of the curriculum for some UG and PG programmes.
    • Exposure of students to National level Seminars and Workshops.
    • Presentation of research findings by staff at International Symposia held at USA, India, S. E. Asia, Europe and Mexico.
    • Recognition from IGNOU as RRC (Recognized Research Centre) for M.Phil and Ph.D programmes (Botany, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Electronics, Hindi, Sanskrit and Zoology).
  • Ongoing research projects :
    • On campus organic waste management.
    • Bioremediation and Phytoremediation of gold mine tailings
    • Nutrient release from organic manures in different soil types
    • Preparation and standardization of biocontrol agents for soil borne pathogens
    • Microbial inoculants for establishment of medicinal plants.
    • Invertebrate cell culture and its application in plant growth, antibiotic and mitogenic properties.
