Welcome to the department of computer science - your gateway to the world of Information Technology. Right from computer fundamentals to complicated concepts, these three years of power-packed learning will equip you with a BSc in Computer Science to launch your career in the IT industry.
At the end of this course, we wish to ensure that you not only get a strong theory base but enough practical experience as well. With 47 computers in two laboratories, no two students need to share system at any given time.
We offer three combinations:
1. Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science (PMC)
2. Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics (CMS)
3. Computer Science, Mathematics and Electronics (CME)
The subjects you should have studied in your pre-university or its equivalent to select any of these combinations are: 1. PMC: Physics and Mathematics 2. CMS: Mathematics 3. CME: Mathematics and Electronics
Note that you need not have previous knowledge of either Computer Science or Statistics to take up these courses.

• Computer Chips Club [C^3] C^3 stands for CONNECT, CREATE, COLLABORATE. The Club is open to all students of Computer Science. It is headed by four Secretaries who are all from the final year. The Club meets twice a week during the lunch break. It acts as a forum for students to discuss anything that is IT related. Members can obtain advice on career opportunities, share information about job offers, personal experiences and preferences. • Computer Science Association: • The Association actively participates in the Freshers Week, the Cultural Week, the inter-collegiate festival ‘Cul-Ah!’ and the E-Week at Mount Carmel College by conducting various events.
• Members of the Association have been enthusiastic participants and have won extensively at inter-collegiate festivals.
• The Newsletter
The department publishes an annual newsletter - REBOOT IT - a template to showcase the talents and creativity of the students. REBOOT IT 2010 was its latest release. While it provides a platform to get acquainted with the emerging trends in the IT industry, it also discusses its hazards. One column, called face-to-face, actually gives the students an opportunity to interact with an entrepreneur in the field, whereas others like crosswords, puzzles and jokes explore computer science through fun. This venture rekindles the spirit of innovation among students.
Students of all the three courses offered by the Department of Computer Science have job offers from world-renowned companies even before they graduate as Software Engineers, Test Engineers,Technical Support Executives, Programmers and System Analysts. Some of them are: • Infosys • Wipro • ITC • IGate • Cognizant • SAP Labs • Mindtree
