Department of Botany

Botany is the branch of biology that involves the scientific study of plant life. Plants have intrigued people for thousands of years. They provide aesthetic beauty as well as materials for our basic needs.

Botany began with early human efforts to identify edible, medicinal and poisonous plants, making it one of the oldest sciences.

Today our world presents us with new and complex problems that were never dreamed of a century ago and the solutions to them lie mainly in Botany. Because the field is so broad, there are many kinds of plant biologists and many different opportunities available.

This course aims to teach students the basic and applied aspects of Botany and prepare them for a long and fruitful association with the kingdom of plants.
