The Commerce Association is part of the Student Union as one of the various associations of the college. It is the largest Association of the college housing more than 900 members headed by a Vice-President and three Secretaries. The two main attractions of the Commerce Association Calendar are ‘UnderCurrents’ and ‘CrossCurrents’.
‘UnderCurrents’ is an intra-collegiate fest held for the first, second and third year commerce students. It aims at providing a platform for students to prove their mettle in the practical application of commerce subjects through events like Product Launch, Ad Analysis, Business Quiz, Human Resource Event and Best Manager.
‘CrossCurrents’ is an Inter-collegiate National Level Business Fest. It brings together teams from colleges all over the country to participate in events like Marketing Event, Finance Event, Entrepreneurship Event, Human Resource Event, Tourism Event, Business Quiz, Best Manager and Mock Stock. This also provides an opportunity for the commerce students to be a part of the organizing committee and assume various leadership roles.
Apart from the two fests, the Commerce Association also organizes and participates in seminars, workshops, conferences and summits throughout the year. The association actively participates in the fests conducted by various colleges in and out of Bangalore. This constitutes a major part of the year.
The Entrepreneurship Cell – ‘Initium’
‘Initium’ was set up to inculcate an entrepreneurial spirit among students. It works on a very unique ‘Pod’ System where there are many groups or Pods under the banner of the E-Cell that carry on their specific activities. Currently there are five Pods namely the Counseling Cell, Event Management Pod, Internship Pod, Marketing Pod and NGO Pod that function independently throughout the year.
The highlight of the year is participation in E-Week organized by the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) as a nation-wide event. This event is aimed at dedicating a whole week to the cause of Entrepreneurship and raising awareness about the same.
