Department of Political Science

What is the relevance of political science in today’s world? Politics is about power, and this subject understands the processes, ideas, and institutions through which power is structured, as well as power's effects. Thus, we look at a wide variety of topics, not only about India but those concerning the entire world.

In the Department of Political Science, our teaching engages with the big questions and with the critical events that shape politics around the world and is committed to achieving a high level of academic excellence in undergraduate education.

The Department encourages its students to be informed on various e-government initiatives, update knowledge on recent areas of interest such as good governance, globalisation and sustainable development and also fosters its students to develop an interdisciplinary perspective and identify significant issues for further research.

Students have actively participated in mock parliaments and model United Nations held throughout the country, they have interviewed local political leaders and administrators and the voter registration drive has been undertaken by the department from time to time in order to enable the students to vote during elections.
