As per the Bangalore University guidelines, each student is required to study one Second Language. Kannada is one of the languages offered.
The course follows the semester system so students are needed to study the subject for a period of 4 semesters/2 years (with an exception of BBM students, who are required to study Second Language for only one year).
Each student is tested by a Continuous Internal Evaluation system, which includes tests, projects, assignments and quizzes. At the end of each semester an End Semester Exam is held.
The Department of Kannada in Mount Carmel College was founded in the year 1948. The objectives of the department are: 1. To promote the Kannada language, culture and values. 2.
